The goal of SB 70 is to better prepare California students to seek and succeed in jobs that require high-level skills and pay high wages. The Chancellor's Office, in consultation and collaboration with the California Department of Education (CDE), identified the following approaches for obtaining this goal:
- Increase career exploration for middle school and high school students by improving linkages between industry and education through the application of classroom learning in real-world settings
- Create seamless pathways for students in career technical education by aligning K-12, including Regional Occupational Centers and Programs, with California's community colleges and four-year institutions;
- Promote program and partnership with business and industry that builds CTE capacity and improves CTE delivery across school and college settings.
